When we trek in May, I will have had my first anniversary as CEO at The Kids' Cancer Project.
The Kokoda Trail will challenging but no where near as challenging as the diagnosis and treatment of a child with cancer brings to a family.
Most people have been impacted by cancer in some way. Having lost my father to cancer I cannot imagine the turmoil and heartbreak that having one of my children diagnosed would bring to our family.
Trekking in May will give me time to reflect on the incredible families and children I have met in my short 12 months. My son is 1 year older than my new mate Declan who with his family have taken on a much larger challenge than a simple trek.
I am also inspired by the amazing research projects we are funding. Raising awareness and funds for research has made and will make a lasting impact. I'm just doing my bit - come join me! - Owen
The Kids’ Cancer Project is an independent national charity dedicated to supporting childhood cancer research. Kids' cancer is different to adult cancer. Current treatments like radiation and chemotherapy are very harsh causing many kids to develop side-effects long after treatment has ended.
If you believe science is the solution join us. By working together, we will make a difference to help kids with cancer.
